EDUCATION SYSTEM IN RAJASTHAN

As India   is  heading  towards  the  pinnacle of digitalization  , so is the education system in rajasthan .Within the state  agriculture , handicrafts  and animal husbandry  are the  major sources of   livelihood  where   distribution  of  income  assets  is  highly  uneven . And  thus  the  task  of  ensuring  education  universally  relevant  for   all the   sections  of  society  is  indeed  formidable .

The  main  challenge  confronting  education  strategies  in  Rajasthan  is  education   of  girls  especially  among  tribal  people . Many  children  especially  girls ,  either  do not attend  school at all  or  leave  soon  after   joining  engaging  themselves  in  household  chores  . Probing  somewhat  deeper , we analyse  the education  system  in   three  parts –  first  relates  to  access  and  provisioning  ,the  second  to  quality  of  teaching  and  third  to  social  and  environmental  factors . Apart  from  quantitative  expansion  of  education  infrastructure  there  is  an  urgent  requirement  to   improve  the   quality  of  education , given  the  abysmally  poor  levels  of  learning  indicated  by  analyses  of  educational  attainment  and  learning  in  schools .

Learning  from  success   stories  and  examples  of  best  practice  is  a  necessary   component  of  a  successful  education  strategy . Rajasthan  has  long  been   the   crucible  of  experimentation  with  regard  to  education .One  such  example  of  experimentation  is  the  government  school  of  Ajmer  which  became  an  excellent  example  of  great  amenities  being  provided  at   a  government schools .Students  here  come  in  proper  uniform  with  their  identity  cards . Not only  this , but  student  enrollment  ratio    especially that  of  girls  is much  more than  that  of  private  schools  in  that  region . Cleanliness  in  school  premises  is  also  the  responsibility  of  school .The  efforts  of  teachers  , participation  of  civil  society ,a spirit  of  social  service  ,voluntarism  and  philanthropy  emerged  as  a  successful tool  in  Ajmer  in  eliminating  the  gender  and  other  forms  of  social  bias .This  might  be  just  one  example  of  consequences  of  creating  awareness  among  people  about  importance  of  education  .  A  dozen  special  schemes  and  programmes   have  been  introduced   by  rajasthan   government  to  improve  the   quality  of   education   and  to  reach  the   unrecognized  sections   of   the   society .

The   increase  in  number  of   schools  in  rural  areas   ,  a  satisfactory   teacher-pupil  ratio   , initiatives  to  decrease  the   number  of   school   dropouts   , increasing  number  of   girls  school  , involvement  of   civil  society  in  creating  awareness   can  thus  be  some  of   the  few steps  to  be  taken  by  people  to  fill  the  left  out  gap  in  education  among  upper  and   lower   classes . Although  several  major   programmes  introduced  by  government   such  as  Shiksha  Karmi  Project , Lok  jumbish  Pariyojana  , District  Primary  Education  Programme  ,Mid  day meal  have  been  quite   successful  in   attracting   adults  to  send  their  children  to  school  but  the  quality  of  education  provided  there   has  not   served  its  purpose .Goverment  has  yet  lot  to  do  to  attract  good  and  talented  teachers  and  to  retain  them  in  schools   to  nurture  and  align  the  future  of  children  who  are  going  to  be  the  future  of  India  and  world   some   day .
